Ten 2011 films you should have seen

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II — Of course, you probably should have seen the first seven films already; otherwise, this one probably won’t make much sense.

Bridesmaids – In a summer full of Thor and Pirates and Pixar, this is the film people were talking up.

The Help — Decent race relation films come out only twice a decade and then people dismiss them on the count that they’re condescending.  The Help isn’t.  Miss it because you’re racist, not because you aren’t.

Crazy, Stupid, Love – Maybe it’s just important you see every film Emma Stone makes these days.

Moneyball – If you aren’t too far jaded to believe in David v. Goliath, there isn’t an underdog tale with better merit in 2011.

Source Code – A classic escape from life and logic.

The Artist – Won Best Picture for pretty good reason.  Even if you disagree, you should know why you disagree.

Rango  —  The only animated film in 2011 with a soul.  The rest were lame tacky sequels and tame slacking equals.

Hugo – A Scorsese film for kids?  Why, doesn’t that just sound like something you ought to have seen?

Super 8 – Because not all train wrecks have to be metaphorical.
